On Friday 28th January 2022, two political rallies were held in Bungoma County by Deputy President and United Democratic Alliance presidential candidate Dr. William Ruto at Kapsokwony Town and Posta Grounds in Bungoma Town. The Deputy President was accompanied by various elected leaders and politicians on the campaign trail from the region.

The claim, first published by Twitter user @ItsMutai, alleged that Deputy President William Ruto had pledged to Jacquie Maribe has been appointed as the Director in charge of Communications at the Office of the Deputy President. The tweet garnered a lot of attention and had been circulating on many social media platforms.
